Decoupled Second-order Volterra Filter Structure Using the Nlmf Adaptive Algorithm for Nonlinear Acoustic Echo Cancellation
نویسندگان
چکیده
The paper proposes a nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation setup based on a decoupled scheme of the second-order adaptive Volterra filter. The acoustic distortions that take place in the Loudspeaker-Enclosure-Microphone setup are modeled using measured linear and quadratic Volterra kernels. The adaptation of the filter weights is achieved by exploiting the Normalized Least-Mean-Fourth algorithm. The proposed method is compared with the usual direct adaptation procedure of the second-order Volterra filter using the same algorithm and the same step size values. Comparisons between these techniques regard the evolution of the Echo Return Loss Enhancement in terms of convergence rate and steady-state error. Experimental results for Laplacian distributed excitation show that the new approach increases the speed of convergence in comparison to the one given by the coupled version without enhancing the steady-state error.

Proportionate Nlms Algorithm for Second-order Volterra Filters and Its Application to Nonlinear Echo Cancellation
The performance of linear acoustic echo cancelers degrades if nonnegligible nonlinear distortion is introduced into the echo path as, e.g., caused by low-cost loudspeaker systems driven at high volume. Adaptive second-order Volterra filters are known to effectively model nonlinear acoustic echo paths. In this contribution we propose an extension of the proportionate NLMS (PNLMS) to second-order...
متن کاملAdaptive Volterra filters for nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation
More than 20 years ago it was shown that adaptive Volterra filters can be used for telephone echo cancellation, but the inherent need for a large number of coefficients has inhibited their practical use. Recently, first attempts have been made to combat nonlinearities in the acoustic echo path of hands-free telephones, which are caused by low-cost audio components. As these attempts are based o...
متن کاملNonlinear acoustic echo cancellation with 2nd order adaptive Volterra filters
Acoustic echo cancellers in today' s speakerphones or video conferencing systems rely on the assumption of a linear echo path. Low-cost audio equipment or constraints of portable communication systems cause nonlinear distortions, which limit the echo return loss enhancement achievable by linear adaptation schemes. These distortions are a superposition of different effects, which can be modelled...
متن کاملNonlinear echo cancellation using a correlation LMS adaptation scheme
Adaptive algorithms have been widely used to reduce or cancel undesired echo signals in acoustic communication systems. In particular, in a double-talk scenario, fluctuations in the estimation of echo path parameters and nonlinear distortion in a hybrid system may result in significant performance degradation. In this paper, the use of nonlinear echo cancellation via a correlation RLS (CRLS) al...
متن کاملSub-band Implementation of Adaptive Nonlinear Filter for Adaptive Nonlinear Echo Cancellation
The adaptive Volterra filter has been successfully applied in nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) systems and nonlinear line echo cancellation systems, but its applications are limited by its required computational complexity and slow convergence rate, especially for systems with long memory length. In this paper, we first apply a more general nonlinear filter, the function expansion non...
